Robbie asked:

Every once in a while, we come across the movie that perhaps looks great on paper, or a movie that we really get excited about for some reason or another.

Then, we see it . . . and we realize that no matter how much we want to like it, we just don’t for some reason. Maybe it was the acting. Maybe it was the dialogue. Or the casting. Maybe it really did look better in the trailer but didn’t live up to those expectations.

So, we see it again, hoping it will get better (you think, “Maybe I didn’t get it the first time.”). But, it doesn’t.

Any movie ever do this for/to you? What was it and why?

Pursuit of Happyness…

I watched it (twice) and kept expecting more after the point that he landed his dream job, etc.
It moved rather slow and I was hoping to see more of the effect instead of everything that led up to it.

We own the night.
It was a little disappointing. Too similar to the Departed but not half as good

The “fog” it started out good , but then it got too draggy and then the ending kind of jumped together, although being about “ghost pirates” I really tried to like it -lol

I finally saw Gladiator for the first time a few weeks ago…(i’m very late with that I know). After all the hype I thought it was gonna be really good…but it wasn’t, it seemed empty to me…I’m glad I didn’t see it when it was out coz I would’ve been robbed.

the mobie “Next” with jessica biel and nicolas cage i really wanted to like this movie, because cage is usually an excellent actor, and biel is so-so. but then when i saw this movie i was like “wait, what? thats IT????” i was so mad- it was a complete waste of time and SUCH a boring movie to watch! it was pointless with a disappointing ending and not too great of a plot, either. okay- i realize im ranting now- lol. but anyway, so bottom line: i wanted to like the movie, but i didn’t.

Blades of Glory… I really like Will Farrell movies… but I honestly cannot get into anything w/the Napoleon Dynamite guy, for some reason I just don’t find the guy funny, and he seems to play the same type of character in every movie. I watched it a couple of times, but I just can’t like it because of him. My boyfriend really enjoyed the movie, so we continue to watch it because he likes it.

– the first time I tried to watch Napoleon Dynamite was with my boyfriend, I watched it for 40 minutes and didn’t laugh at all… he got mad turned it off and said ‘you have no soul’ He was just joking… but still it was like ‘did I loose my funny bone?!’

Material Girls. I thought it would be a good chick flick… so I rented it for a sleepover with my friends and we were all ready to fall asleep after it was over…

“Say Anything…” For years, I always heard people talking about the scene where the guy holds up the radio playing “In Your Eyes” (great song, by the way) outside this girl’s window and I was like I totally want to see this. But when I saw the movie, I really felt like this scene should’ve been at the end. And I was always under the impression that the girl played hard to get and the guy did his radio thing as a way to show her that he wouldn’t stop pursuing her until she gave him a chance. The scene itself was good, but I thought the movie should’ve been different.

Spiderman 3…too much emphasis on the action but the new characters introduced in the movie weren’t developed enough to make you care if they lived or died. It was a huge disappointment compared to the first two.
